Project Description: The complete renovation of the existing 11,762 sf Medical Intensive Care Unit, which was last updated in 1990. The new space is more technologically advanced with increased patient room size, and has a centralized, more efficient nursing station, plus monitoring alcoves outside of the patient rooms. Increased safety for nursing staff and patients is provided by mechanical overhead patient lifts in each room of the MICU. Increasing numbers of bariatric patients require special equipment and care, and the new MICU has two bariatric isolation rooms with industry-specific room sizes, doorway widths, and bathroom components. The design also included a conference room and family waiting area as well as installing a $460K nurse call Code Blue system was a part of the scope of work.
